Nursely stuff
Sep. 1st, 2009 09:14 pmMy first day as a Real Nurse™ was great. It was much like a regular clinical day, except that there weren't a dozen students running about just like me. I'm orienting on days with Nancy. She has ways of organizing things different from me, but that's okay because seeing why her way doesn't work for me is helping me see ways in which I want to organize myself. I want an "all my patients at a glance" sheet, for instance, and I will be taking advantage of several technologies that we have at the hospital. The Pyxis medication machine can be made to do several things that will make my day faster & keep me from forgetting things.
I decorated my ID badge clip today. Now instead of being a round black clip with a St. B's sticker, it's covered in gold & red rhinestones & gold glitter. Very awesome. Photo tomorrow. :)
I bought another pair of scrubs and immediately took the top to Massanelli's cleaners to have it altered. The top fits like a dream except that the bottom hem is tight across my hips. This could be fixed by extending the side vents up about 2 inches, so I took one top to the cleaner's to see about having that done. They told me it will be about $5 and that I can pick it up Friday. We'll see how that goes. Someone on Twitter asked if I'd told Cherokee that I have them altered this way, and sent me a link to a feedback form. I don't know if it matters, but I did tell them. Thought they might as well know that their side vents are not prepared for hips like mine. ;)
Well. Tomorrow is my 2nd day, so off I go to shower & bed. Look for the photo of my awesome new badge clip!
