Summer's cruising right along
Jul. 17th, 2014 04:52 pmI am so frustrated right now with our dogs. Pete & Sam are both about 12 years old. We've lived in this house for about 5 years now, and suddenly my dogs seem to have forgotten all their training. If we leave anything they'll eat on the kitchen table when we leave the house, even if it's packaged bread, they'll climb onto the table & eat it. We cannot have a trash can in the kitchen; they will knock it over & go through it when we're gone. Instead we use grocery bags & take them out when we leave or go to sleep. Recently one or the other of them has started to pee in the living room, FEET FROM THE DOGGIE DOOR. It's not incontinence, either. If it were that, we'd be finding little puddles all over the house; we don't. We just find them in the living room. We just got new rugs to put in the den & living room, & I'm totally afraid to put the living room one in because I KNOW they will preferentially pee on the rug. The floors are hardwood laminate, so they clean easy. Much more difficult for a rug. They ruined one of Ganon's prized possessions this morning; he got a Pokemon X & Y Pokedex book that had a huge poster with all of the Pokemon from that region. He loved that poster. He had it out in the floor looking at it last night & forgot to pick it up...this morning it had been peed on. Totally ruined; it fell apart at the mid-seam, the ink was running & faded, & of course it smelled like dog pee.
I am REALLY upset with these dogs. Like to the point where they're getting old & I don't even CARE. It makes me sad when I think that Bryan & Ganon will be really upset when they die, but I have no attachment to them at all. That's kinda depressing.
There are 2 weeks left now in summer! First week of August is our "on-campus" week. I don't have to be there terribly often; in fact I think it's just 2 days for me & KG, my friend who is also an ACNP (acute care nurse practitioner) emphasis. TB, our other friend, is dual-FNP/MHNP (family & mental health). This year, her classes begin to differ from ours.
It's been a super eventful summer! An entire weekend of DMB shows, Wakarusa, an unexpected week in Dallas, a trip to the cabin, another trip to Dallas for the 4th of July, a few days here & there in Little Rock, etc. I'm not ready for it to be over yet, but I have 2 more weeks with my boys before that happens. And even afterward, most of my work will be done from home anyway except for clinicals, so I'll have the time between my school starting & theirs. And of course when they're in school, I'll have my own schoolwork to keep me busy, so it's all working out.
I ordered 2 skirts from eShakti. Originally I was weirded out because their sizing looked quite small. The size 16, which I normally wear, was quite a lot smaller than I was measuring my waist. Thinking I must be measuring incorrectly, I decided to split the difference between what I measured myself & what they thought my size should be, and I ordered a size 18. Wrong choice. I'm apparently at least a size 22 at eShakti! One skirt wouldn't button at all, and the other one was tight, but buttoned because of the elastic in the back. I'm returning both.
I'm still very excited, however, because of eShakti's return policy. If you return the items for credit (a gift card, in their wording), not only do you get the full price of the item, but you get 20% of that value added on! That essentially pays for the shipping when you return the items. I'm definitely going to reorder; probably the same items I already got. I don't care what label they put on the size I wear, as long as the article of clothing fits me.
